This guy is reminding me that recharging is just as important as my to-do list.

You guys, I am SUCH a proud band wife and can’t help but share the good news. @fictionistnoise’s new album is out - and I can honestly say that I LOVE IT. It’s been on repeat. Today and tomorrow they’re having a steal of a sale - the new album + the t-shirt for mere wee change. Don’t miss out. Link in profile.

Detail of a #wip that I thought was done, but it’s been whispering to me that there’s more to be done. I may just have to paint in my living room until the new studio floor (!!!) is in.

Dress folds on my lap - they’re killing me right now.

Another one from the flat files. I’m still obsessed with red hair - hers was especially gorgeous.

Cleaning out old work and found this head study. It was a pivotal study artistically - after months of struggling with painting the human head, something just shifted in my brain during this one and a level of painting suddenly made sense. It was kinda incredible, and I keep it around to remind myself that if you keep working at something, eventually things will fall into place.

Slowly but surely the studio is taking shape - I forgot how long this stuff takes. #overambitious Until then, here’s a piece I did for the #ThirtyProject, which was nearly a year ago! Time flies.

"Wherever perfectionism is driving, shame is riding shotgun. Perfectionism is not about healthy striving, which you see all the time in successful leaders, it’s not about trying to set goals and being the best we can be, perfectionism is basically a cognitive behavioral process that says if I look perfect, work perfect, and do everything perfectly, I can avoid shame, ridicule, and criticism. It’s a defense mechanism."
So, I’ve been waiting for someone to explain this extremely simple concept to me my entire life.
Hooooly shit I needed to read this article.
"When I interview leaders, artists, coaches, or athletes who are very successful, they never talk about perfectionism as being a vehicle for success. What they talk about is that perfectionism is a huge trigger, one they have to be aware of all the time, because it gets in the way of getting work done."
